Last day

It is the last day today. Suddenly everything and everyone seem so unbearable to leave behind.  The night before, Charlotte, Yepp and journey came over to spend the last night with us. They painted our nails, showed us their photos and talked to us through the night. There were so many things going on in everyone mind that night, the pain of having to leave, the people that we know we were going to miss, the experience we had together as a group…… Though there was an unbearable feeling in our hearts knowing that this was our last few hours with them, all tears were held back.

Everyone was busy packing their luggage that night and there were so many situation that we didn’t anticipate; our luggage refusing to stretch just a little bit more, surprised to notice that just a few more clothes could make our luggage weigh so much more, forgetting to collect our laundry, unable to find clean underwear for the next day(aiyoyo, Jeremy). After finish packing our stuff, everyone spent their last few hours trying to do as much stuff as they possibly could, like playing mahjong, collecting photos from everyone, but all I could remember myself doing that night was playing game with Charlotte on felicia’s computer^^, it was a game where we were given a picture and had to find the items that are listed on the bottom of the screen. (haha, didn’t I know I could play this type of game for so long) we just sat there quietly beside each other with very little words said, we know that with more words said to each other, it will only make it harder for us to separate. Maybe this was the best way to say goodbye.

When we arrived at the airport early in the morning, everyone tried to bring back as much as they could from there, what better way to do so? Take lots of pictures! We took so many pictures that day, took with everyone and everything. If we were to listen carefully that day, we won’t be able to hear a moment without the sound of a camera clicking. Sad to say, there were still tears that day, but who was to blame? It wasn’t easy for anyone of us. With our last hugs and goodbyes, we disappeared in the crowds beyond the custom…….

Day 38- Happy Birthday Roomie

This are the last few days in Wuhan. I have gotten so attached to this place, all I could think about is the things I am going to miss when I leave this place that is filled with memories that I will never forget. There is a part of me that misses my home in Singapore, and the other part that would really miss the people and relationship formed here. All I can do now is enjoy myself and try not to think about it, what better way to do that than to celebrate another birthday! Yes! That’s right, it’s Alan’s birthday this time. The party started at “8ball”, it’s a place where Alan does what he enjoys the most, playing pool! There is no better place to celebrate his birthday, even his cake reflects what he loves.

After the celebration, we went over to the KTV in the same building. Had a great time of singing and talking with everybody, we sent the night there. Even after having so much fun together with everyone, there is still the thought of soon we will be leaving this place in the back of my mind.

Day 32-4th of April

What a great coincidence to have Jinquan share the same birthday as me. I always thought that I would not be happy celebrating my birthday away from home as it will only reminds me more of my family, but today that wasn’t true. I enjoyed myself during the party, maybe because sub-consciously I felt that I was home, not the same but still it felt like home. Getting used to the environment and people there, enjoying their company, hearing their laughter together with my own, I am glad to say that I found another place that feels like home. =)
Those were the craziest parties I ever had! Yes! That’s right, I said parties! There were 2 parties that day, one when the clock strike 12 and another just now. Cakes were smash on our faces, laughter were so loud it woke up all the MDE students, smiles on everyone’s faces, presents, specials guests, Jingquan’s wonderful singing, what more could I ask for.
All I could say now is thank you. To everyone that made this happen, to people to bought the cakes, to people that came, to people that cared, to people that remembered, THANK YOU! And to the guy that made the photo presentation, good job! Almost brought me to tears. T_T

day 30 - we wont stay there so get over it!

As usual, we weren’t on time for the trip that was planned for us to visit the new campus of WUST. It was just a 40 minutes bus ride from the old campus. When we arrived at our destination we immediately noticed the difference between the campus that we are staying in and the new one. The environment there was so much better with greeneries everywhere and the hostels were so much better compared to the ones that we were living in, everyone was so envious.

But if I had the choice to choose between the two campuses at the start, I will still stick with the one that we are living in. Even though the bed we have may not be as comfortable, the toilets may not be as clean and the environment may not be as pleasing but the people we meet and the bonds that we have with them cannot be compared with material. And I am sure everybody will agree with me, will we really trade everything we have with the local students with cleaner toilets and softer beds? NO WAY!

Day 25 - To the girl who have never seen it

After our visit to the second biggest Fibre optic factory in the world, we headed over to the “Wuhan University” which was said to have one of the best views of the cherry blossoms. We had to walk quite a bit to get to the area where all the cherry blossom trees were, the longer we walked, the greater the excitement built up in our hearts. Most of us had only seen cherry blossoms on the television or just from books and magazines; little did we know that what we were about to see was indescribable by books or any form of media.

It was like candy floss on branches occupying every corner of our eyes, with layers of pink peddles coating the floor, the sight was unbelievable. It was said that this cherry blossoms are symbols of love, if that was true then I have to say that place will be filled with love every spring....

Even though the phenomenon happens only once a year and only for 2 weeks at a time, how great would it be if Singapore has it too. It would be a great opportunity for Singaporeans like us who are so used to the urban sceneries to see the other side of the world we live in.

We were there for just a short period of time but we didn’t miss the chance to test the shutter limit of our cameras, pictures after pictures were taken even though they all looked the same in the end. What we have seen and felt can never be experience by just photos or words but I am still going to show some pictures taken that day. Hope that no one in their lifetime will miss such a beauty of our mother nature.                            P.S don’t miss it again next year^^

Day 19,20 -to climb or not to climb? we climbed!

Hate to start a post like this, yet another day with long bus trips. Day 19 morning, we set off to Wudang Mountain. It was a cold morning and everyone had not enough sleep the night before, as usual.  What more is there to say, crump seat, limited leg space, more than 4 hrs of sitting on my butt and aching butt.

Finally we arrived at Wudang Mountain! We took the tour bus that brought us to the different parts of the mountain. There was so much information introduced to us about the mountain and its history that I may have forgot some of them but at such high altitude the view was unforgettable; it was some that you will never see when you climb Bukit Timah hill. But what we saw was nothing compare to the view from the golden peak which is the highest point of the mountain.

There was just one problem at that time, there were two ways to get to the peak; it was either by taking the cable car or we had to climb all the way up. The choice was clear; everyone wanted to climb their way up the mountain. But we were strongly dis-encouraged to do so by the tour guide as it was not an easy task, which require lots of strength and time plus if we do to make it up to the top on time, we will end up delaying the others are not climbing. But Mr Chong was very supportive because he knew that we really wanted to do it and we were determined.

In the end we made it all the way up with Mr Chong, and the most amazing thing is that we made it there before those that took the cable car! It was a tough journey that we made it together with each other encouragement and determination

Now here are some pictures from the 2 days at Wudang:

Day 17- xiao ling's last lecture

Today we had our last lecture from xiao ling. Tried really hard to give her my fullest attention but somehow was still able to doze off for a couple of minutes. Even though she had only taught us for 3 weeks, she had tried to make lessons more interesting each time she steps into class. She may not know from our action (sleeping and talking in class) but we truly appreciate everything she had done for us.

Day 11,12,13 - Things you will never see in singapore

Day 11 was the day we set off for a long journey to the 3 gorges dam. Wasn't very excited about the trip because I didn’t know what is so special about a dam. But the journey there was the longest trip that I ever had in my life! I sat till my butt hurts! With limited leg space, i can hardly move through the whole journey and OMG it’s a 4 hours ride to our first destination! But the scenery passes were amazing, there were no high rise building or bust streets; there were just small houses with a vast area of plantation around them which all seems so calm and peaceful. But it such a pity that i dont have any pictures of them.

First destination was the 3gorges dam; we were brought to a spot for tourist like us to enjoy an amazing view of the whole dam. Time to let the pictures do the talking:

First thing that came into my when I first saw the dam was WOW!  This is something that you will never be able to see in Singapore! After that we had to take the bus to the cruise that will bring us through the dam itself. (OH NO! not the bus again!)

The cruise that we were board was a local 4 stars cruise called “silver moon”. I thought to myself, “Finally we can enjoy a comfortable time in this 4 stars cruise” but how was I to know that their 4 star cruise made me want to go back to the hostel! There is no heater in the whole cruise, a room for 2 with hardly any walking space for 1, a toilet that I can hardly stand straight in! For the first day in the cruise, some of the rooms don’t even have water in their toilet! But not everything in the room was bad, I love the bed! It is so soft it makes it hard to wake up in the morning.

The following morning, breakfast was at 7.30am, we bored a smaller to that will bring us to our next destination where we were going to board a even smaller boat that could take less than 20 people . This was to allow us to experience how people in the past used to travel pass the valley. We were rowed through the valley allowing us to have a better view of the scenery and when we reached a part where it was too shallow for us to be rowed through this become our new motors that will bring us through it :

On the way back to our cruise, the tour guide that was with us on the boat was kind enough to sing us the songs that people in the past used to, if only you could be there to hear it yourself; it was really beautiful.

After that we headed to our last stop of the day. We had to climb approximately 200 plus step before reaching the main door and it was so dark that this was the only picture i could take.

by the time we got back to the cruise it was already 9 plus , which is the lastest dinner i had ever had.
the following morning we had to get up really early to board the bus back to Wuhan which is another 4 hours plus of butt torturing.
